Grayscapes is a video clip collection of simple, animated, mostly symmetrical geometric patterns in grayscale intended for r_e_c_u_r and other video samplers.

Grayscapes is a video clip collection of simple, animated, mostly symmetrical geometric patterns in grayscale, all created using LZX analog video synthesis modules for Eurorack. I put this collection together with users of r_e_c_u_r in mind. When I first discovered r_e_c_u_r, I searched around for simple video clips that could be mashed up through shaders, but this proved to be more difficult than I originally thought. Most sites focused on very polished visual content and didn't really leave a whole lot of room for interpretation without becoming a mess. Most of the sites also had paywalls if you want to download a large quantity of clips.
Frustrated with the options, I decided to create this pay-what-you-want pack of simple grayscale video clips to loop, distort, feedback, mix, and warp with video gear. Rather than being finished pieces of media for playback, think of them as a construction kit to build more interesting visuals from. In the spirit of this, all clips were created in grayscale to allow for creative colorization.
